People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
Arrests
A 24-year old from Main Ave., Wheatley Heights, was arrested on Sept. 1 at 11:27 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief, grand larceny, possession of burglar tools, and criminal trespass after a police said he stole catalytic converters from vehicles parked in the Lexus dealership on Sunrise Highway.
A 25-year old from Lawrence Ave., Lynbrook was arrested on Sept. 4 at 3:41 a.m. and charged with both driving while intoxicated and a vehicle traffic law violation after police say him driving a Toyota on N. Park Avenue.
A 32-year-old from Fritchie Place, Valley Stream was arrested on Sept. 6 at 6:19 a.m. and charged with improper refuse disposal after a police investigation on Cumberland Street.
Robbery
On Sept. 4 at 10:20 p.m., two 16-year-old girls reported to police that two unknown men robbed them while they were at N. Long Beach Road and Voorhis Ave., leaving scratches on one of the victim’s arm and stealing a pocketbook and $30 in cash.
Larcenies
On Aug. 30 at 6:20 p.m., a resident from Roxen Road reported that he sold a vehicle to someone from Florida who refused to return his two New York state license plates.
On Aug. 30 at 9:49 p.m., an Oceanside resident told police that between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. someone stole a wallet from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked on Maple Ave.
On Aug. 31 at 7:28 a.m., a Commack man told police that on Aug. 30 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 pm. someone stole a backpack containing a wallet and a GPS device from his unlocked vehicle parked on N. Park Avenue.
On Aug. 31 at 7:10 p.m., an East Rockaway woman reported to police that between Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. someone stole a credit card from her wallet and purchased items totaling $86.37 at a gas station while she was in the midst of receiving treatment at Mercy Medical Center.
On Sept. 3, a resident from Baldwin reported that between 9:15 a.m. and 11:40 p.m. someone damaged the front passenger window of his vehicle and stole the car’s GPS and MP3 player while it was parked in the St. Agnes Cathedral lot on Quealy Place.
On Sept. 4, a village resident from Columbia Road reported that sometime between Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. and Sept. 4 at 2:25 a.m. someone stole his 2008 Ford van from the parking lot of Mercy Medical Center.
On Sept. 5, a resident from Burtis Ave. reported that between 5:05 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. someone stole two bicycle peddles from his bicycle locked at the bike rack in the rear of St. Agnes Cathedral.
On Sept. 6, a man from Bedford Ave. reported that between Sept. 5 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. someone stole two bicycle handgrips and a seat from a bicycle locked at the St. Agnes Cathedral parking lot.
Criminal mischief
On Sept. 4, police received a report that someone damaged two windows at the Prime Catch Restaurant on S. Park Avenue. sometime between Sept. 3 at 10:30 a.m. and Sept 4 at 10 a.m.
