Arrests

When police arrested a 32-year-old man from Atlantic Avenue, Freeport on Sept. 11 at 7:01 p.m. at Maple Avenue and N. Long Beach Road, they say they found approximately 38 grams of crack cocaine and powdered cocaine in his car, along with $2,687 in mostly small bills. He was charged with two felonies — criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was also charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia and police said he also has an open bench warrant from Allegheny County, Penn. for a sex offense.

A 45-year-old man from Forest Avenue, Valley Stream was arrested on Sept. 10 at 3:10 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicle traffic law violations at Sunrise Highway and N. Park Avenue following an accident investigation by police.

A 16-year-old teen from Southard Avenue, was arrested at 10:51 p.m. on Sept. 8 and charged with making graffiti near Municipal Parking Field # 26.

A 28-year-old man from Tollgate Court, Lynbrook, was arrested on Sept. 7 at 8:40 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated following an accident investigation by police on N. Village Avenue at Sunrise Highway.

Burglaries

On Sept. 14 at 3 a.m., a resident of Eton Road reported to police that he found the window to his den wide open and someone had stole a Dell lap top computer valued at $2,500, a Canon Rebel film camera worth $5,000 and an Apple Ipod from the first floor of his home while he was sleeping upstairs.

On Sept. 14 at 7:55 p.m., a Raymond Street resident told police that at approximately 1:30 a.m. someone entered his home through an unlocked den window and went through drawers on the first floor while he was upstairs. There was no reported loss at the time he made the report.

Larcenies

On Sept. 9 a Lynbrook resident told police that someone stole a leaf blower backpack valued at $500 from the driveway of 256 Burtis Ave. where he was working.

On Sept. 10 a S. Park Avenue shop owner reported to police that someone stole two bags of bread rolls valued at $35 from the front of the Rockville Centre Food Centre between 5 and 7 a.m.

On Sept 12, a N. Forest Avenue resident told police that someone stole a GPS from his 2006 Subaru that was parked in his driveway between Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. and the next morning at 8:30.

Also on Sept. 12, a resident of Roosevelt told police that someone stole her 1995 Toyota parked at T.G.I. Friday, 716 Sunrise Highway, between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.

On Sept. 13 a visitor from New Hyde Park reported to police that someone stole $300 from his 2006 Chrysler car that was parked at Skelos Sports Complex between 2 and 4 p.m.

A Rosedale resident told police on Sept. 13 that someone stole an Apple I-Phone, a wristwatch and $250 from his 1998 Isuzu that was parked at Skelos Sports Complex between 2 and 4 p.m.

In similar incidents, two Valley Stream residents reported thefts from their cars that were also parked in the parking lot of the Skelos Sports Complex on Sept. 13 between 2 and 4 p.m. One car, a 2000 Toyota, sustained damage to the driver side door lock. The owner’s wallet and $105 was stolen. In the other incident, an Apple I-Touch and a Blackberry cell phone were stolen from a 1998 Dodge.

On Sept. 14 a Hempstead Avenue resident told police that someone stole two bicycles from her detached garage between Sept. 13 at 11:45 p.m. and the next morning at 7.

At 10:14 p.m. on Sept. 14, an Oceanside resident reported to police that someone stole his 1997 Toyota Tercel from the parking lot of the 7-11 at 324 Merrick Road. The man told police that the car was unlocked and running, with keys in its ignition at the time of the theft.

Graffiti

On Sept. 8 the director of the Sandel Senior Center, 50 S. Park Ave. told police that someone wrote graffiti on the center’s gazebo sometime between Sept. 5 at 3 p.m. and Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m.

On Sept. 9 at 3:20 p.m. officers conducted a graffiti investigation at 532 Merrick Road.

Criminal mischief

On Sept. 4, a resident of Oceanside told police that someone damaged a door window at Technicolor Salon on S. Park Avenue sometime between Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.

Property damage

On Sept. 2 at 7:38 p.m., a resident from Long Beach reported that someone damaged his car while it was parked at Molloy College between the hours of 2:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Unusual incidents

On Sept. 14, a resident of Hamilton Road told police that someone made unauthorized purchases against her Amex Blue, Amex Platinum and Chase Visa debit accounts between Aug. 10 and Sept. 10.

On Aug. 30 at 2:05 p.m., a resident from N. Centre Ave. reported that someone defrauded her for $2,962.50 after she received bogus money orders in payment for a furniture item she sold on Craigslist.

Harassment complaints

On Sept. 7 at 8:55 a.m., a resident of Hempstead reported receiving numerous threatening telephone calls.

At 12:15 p.m. on On Sept. 7 a Seaman Avenue resident told police she was annoyed and alarmed by messages posted on her Facebook page.

On Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. a Powell Avenue resident reported receiving a threatening telephone call from a stranger.

And on Sept 9 a woman from Hampshire Road told police she has received harassing notes through the mail.
