Rockville Centre Crime Watch Sept. 27, 2012

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

A 44-year-old man from Lawson Street, Hempstead was arrested on Sept. 10 and charged with two counts of assault, resisting arrest, aggravated harassment and disorderly conduct after a domestic incident investigation in the vicinity of Nassau Street and Banks Avenue, Rockville Centre.

A 47-year-old man from Waverly Avenue, East Rockaway was arrested on Sept. 14 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation after an investigation by police in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and Morris Avenue, Rockville Centre.

n The same day, a 31-year-old man from Montcalm Street, Lake George was arrested for an open bench warrant charging him with assault. The arrest was made after a police investigation on N. Village Avenue, Rockville Centre.

A 31-year-old man from Cedarhurst Street, Valley Stream was arrested the next day and charged with theft of services after an investigation by police at Croxley’s Ale House, 7 S. Park Ave., Rockville Centre.

A 39-year-old man from Roberts Avenue, Franklin Square was arrested on Sept. 16 and charged with stalking, criminal mischief, harassment and VTL violations after an investigation by police in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and Morris Avenue, Rockville Centre.

Larcenies

A resident of Lawson Avenue, Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 11 that someone stole a Nikon Camera valued at $1,000 and two lenses valued at a total of $4,000 from his 2010 Jeep while it was parked in his driveway.

A resident of Lenox Road, Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 14 that someone stole the New York State registration from his 2009 Nissan while it was parked in the rear of 50 Lenox Road, Rockville Centre.

The same day, a resident of Capitolian Boulevard, Rockville Centre reported that someone stole her pocketbook and passport that she had left on a chair after eating at Za Pizzeria, 2 N. Park Ave., Rockville Centre.

A resident of 103rd street, Brooklyn reported the same day that someone stole a box truck containing approximately $3,000 worth of beer while he was in McDonald’s, 618 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre.

An Auxiliary Police chief reported on Sept. 15 that someone stole a Blue Rhino propane tank, valued at $52, from the side of the Rockville Centre Auxiliary Police headquarters, located at 5 Chester Road, Rockville Centre.

A resident of Cottonwood Lane, Westbury reported on Sept. 16 that someone damaged the rear driver side mirror of his 2007 Nissan while it was parked opposite 15 Front Street, Rockville Centre. He also reported that his GPS, valued at $150, had been stolen.

Burglaries

A resident of Monroe Street, Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 11 that a woman entered her residence without permission, assaulted her and damaged a T-Mobile cell phone valued at $400. The subject fled in an unknown direction and the victim declined medical aid for swelling and pain to her face.

The owner of Good Luck News, 600 Merrick Road, Rockville Centre, reported on Sept. 14 that someone entered the store through the roof and stole $20,000, assorted phone cards valued at $600, and cigarettes valued at $1,000.

The same day, the owner of Sangra de Uva, 65 N. Village Ave., Rockville Centre, reported that someone entered the store and stole a slow cooker valued at $15,000.

Unusual incidents

A resident of Maine Avenue, Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 12 that she was notified that someone attempted to charge $11,963.17 against her American Express card without authorization.

The next day, a resident of Elizabeth Street, Baldwin reported that someone stole his wallet while he was at 371 Merrick Road, Rockville Centre and made unauthorized charges against his credit cards, totaling $2,033.67.

Graffiti

On Sept. 10, police personnel identified graffiti that had been placed on a sign located at N. Village Avenue and Lexington Street, Rockville Centre.

The manager of a store on N. Centre Avenue reported on Sept. 12 that someone placed graffiti on a Rockville Centre EOC 2001 Ford bus that was parked at Meehan Lane and N. Centre Avenue, Rockville Centre.

On Sept. 16, police personnel identified graffiti that had been placed on street signs in the vicinity of New York Avenue, Rockville Centre.

Criminal mischief

A resident of Hamilton Road, Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 12 that someone damaged both pass enger side windows and a mirror to his 2003 GMC SUV while it was parked at 380 N. Long Beach Road, Rockville Centre.

A resident of Hillside Avenue, Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 15 that someone damaged a ME/BZ hood ornament, a flagpole, seven pool fasteners and a solar power garden light located in his back yard.

Property damage

A resident of Arizona Avenue, S. Hempstead reported on Sept. 10 that the driver side door of his 2011 BMW was damaged while parked in Municipal Parking Field 27.

The next day, a resident of Maple Avenue reported that her apartment door was damaged by unknown means.

Lost property

A member of the Rockville Centre Fire Department reported on Sept. 10 that a two-way radio, valued at $500, and a remote microphone, valued at $100, was missing from a fire truck.

Leaving the scene of an accident

A resident of Massapequa Park reported on Aug. 29 that her 2007 Toyota was struck by another vehicle, which left the scene, while she was driving on Merrick Road in the vicinity of Ocean Avenue in Rockville Centre.

The next day, at 8:01 p.m., police responded to an accident on Merrick Road at Windsor Avenue in which a motor vehicle had collided with a street sign. The operator abandoned the vehicle and left the scene on foot before police arrived.
