People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
Arrests
A 32-year old man from Langdon Blvd. was arrested on Aug. 25 at 4:54 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct after Mercy Medical Center security personnel reported to police that he refused to leave the hospital’s emergency room waiting area.
A 51-year old man from W. Broadway, Woodmere was arrested on Aug. 25 and charged with petit larceny following an investigation by police at the CVS Pharmacy on Sunrise Highway.
A 17-year-old teen from April Lane, Bellmore was arrested on Aug. 27 at 4:22 p.m. and charged with making graffiti and possessing graffiti instruments after he was observed using the items on the exterior wall of Kasey’s Kitchen and Cocktails Restaurant on N. Park Ave.
A 20-year old man from Terrace Place., N. Baldwin was arrested and charged on Aug. 29 at 12:19 a.m. with driving while intoxicated, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after his involvement in an auto accident on Front Street.
A 49-year old man from 29th Street, Astoria was arrested on Aug. 29 at 6:55 p.m. for theft of services after he allegedly refused to pay his bill at Cabo Restaurant on N. Park Ave.
Identity thefts
On Aug. 18, a N. Forest Avenue resident told police that someone opened 11 credit card accounts using his personal information and made purchases totaling $10,843 without permission.
On Aug. 24, a resident from N. Centre Ave. reported that someone made purchases totaling $1, 245.64 from the Dell Credit Corporation using his personal information without authorization.
A Morris Avenue resident told police on Aug. 25 that a someone opened his Citibank checking account using his personal information, made withdrawals totaling $35,000 from a home equity line of credit and accessed a debit account and Yahoo e-mail account without his authorization.
Larcenies
On Aug. 23, a resident from Fountain Avenue reported to police that someone stole an IPod from the automobile parked in front of his home.
On Aug. 25, a man from Royal Court told police that between Aug. 23 at 11 p.m. and Aug. 24 at 9:55 p.m., someone posing as a Chase Bank employee sent him an e-mail requesting account information and passwords, subsequently leading to the withdrawal of $1,900 from his bank account without his permission.
On Aug. 26, a resident of Davison Place reported that between 6 a.m. and 5:40 p.m., his Shimano bicycle was stolen from underneath the LIRR platform west of the taxi stand.
On Aug. 27 at 9:40 p.m., someone damaged the driver side window of an East Rockaway resident’s vehicle and stole the car’s GPS while it was parked in the lot at Friday’s Restaurant on Sunrise Highway.
On Aug. 29 at 11:05 a.m., a woman from Merrick Road reported that someone damaged her driver side door lock and removed the car radio while it was parked in the back of the Park Avenue Deli on Merrick Road.
Unusual incidents
On Aug. 19 a resident of New York Avenue told police that between Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. and the next morning at 6 a.m., someone withdrew $160 from her Chase bank account without authorization.
On Aug. 16 a S. Forest Avenue resident reported that someone obtained motor vehicle insurance for a car he does not own, using his personal information without permission.
