Final “Nutcracker Ballet" audition

On Sept. 6, Leggz Ltd. Dance will hold its final auditions for classically trained males and females

ages 7 - adult for the full length “Nutcracker Ballet” with the RVC Guild for the Arts South Shore Symphony Orchestra. Professional principal performers are paid. Call (516) 766-7171 for an appointment. There is a $20 audition fee and auditions will be held at the Leggz studio, 486 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre.

Defensive Driving Class at the Church of the Ascension

A National Safety Council defensive driving course for insurance and point reduction will be given at the Church of the Ascension, 71 North Village Ave. on Sept. 8 from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. For information and to register, call (631) 360-9720. The cost is $45.

Eagle Scout Centennial Parade

Long Island’s Boy Scouts of America will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Eagle Scout Award with a parade and ceremonies on Sept. 8 in the village where, in 1912, Arthur R. Eldred was the first Boy Scout to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. The Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America is sponsoring the Eagle Scout Centennial Parade that will step-off at 10 a.m. Units of Long Island Boy Scout Troops, BSA leaders, Eagle Scouts and local officials will march the parade route from Randall Ave. Parking Field 2 to Arthur R. Eldred Park at corner of North Centre Avenue and Parkwood Court where a commemoration ceremony will take place.
