Community Events

Used cleat collection

Members of the 8th grade South Side Middle School soccer team are collecting used soccer cleats in good condition. Donations will help ensure that children around the world have the equipment they need to play soccer. Collection boxes will be placed in the SSMS cafeteria and Soccer Station through the fall.

Tree of Life Yoga

Central Synagogue of Nassau County, 430 DeMott Ave., is again sponsoring a Fall session, with evening classes of yoga. The classes are open to yoga students of all levels. The Tree of Life Yoga will be offering a series of 12 classes, beginning on Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. — a new day and time. You may pay as you go for $15 a class. Members of the community are invited to participate. All new participants may attend the Sept. 13th class at no charge. Rockville Centre Newcomers Club

Members of the community are invited to the RVC Newcomers Club annual board meeting on Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. at 122 Hempstead Ave.

Nominations for new board members will be accepted and elections will be held. The Newcomers Club is a community-based organization that sponsors social events throughout the year to help residents, old and new, get the most out of living in our village. The Newcomers Club organizes a wide variety of events for ladies, couples and the whole family, designed to appeal to all interests, promote community businesses and support local charities.
