The 7th grade girls Turf Island travel lacrosse team were champions at the Beach Lax Festival held in Ocean City, Md. on June 9-10. The team consists of 13 girls from Rockville Centre, four from Oceanside, and one from each Lynbrook, Baldwin and Malverne.
The girls went undefeated in group play to advance to the semi finals where they beat a very strong team out of Rockville, Md. The final was a great contest between Turf Island and Coatesville, Md. with Turf Island winning 7-5, twice coming back from behind.
Turf Island is coached by three-time National Champion Patrick McCabe (Syracuse), Jim Williams (Army) and three-time National Champion Erica DeVito (Adelphi). McCabe is also the founder and director of Shooting Star Lacrosse Camp.
