Principal for a day

Paolo Primavera in the 3rd grade at Hewitt Elementary School was “Principal for the Day,” temporarily replacing Liz Pryke, who is the full-time principal there. Paolo’s mom won the a silent auction on Paolo’s behalf at the Rockville Centre Education Foundation gala on March 3.

Star of the week

Hewitt Hurricane, Isabella Harrison, smiled with delight as her sister entertained fellow classmates in Dave Ferrone’s kindergarten classroom. As the highlight of Bella’s “Star of the Week” activities, Sofia, a Hewitt graduate and sixth grade student at South Side Middle School, honored her sister with a surprise visit and read two Dr. Seuss classics to the classroom of captivated kindergartners. This experience was just one special example of how a love of literacy is fostered in the classrooms at Hewitt Elementary School.
