Among other things, Rockville Centre residents saw a change in the village administration in 2011, as Francis Murray and his two RVC United Party running mates won election in June. Extreme weather events throughout the year generated headlines, village police remained ever-vigilant against crime in the community, two longtime eateries are (at least temporarily) out of business (due to fires) and another downtown business district staple picked up and left the village. Residents also had three opportunities to mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, with three local ceremonies. To read the entire Year in Review issue, click here.
