Rockville Centre Lions Club's walk rally a roaring success

On June 5, the Rockville Centre Lions Club hosted its second annual walking rally to support the Mary Ruchalski Foundation.

The interactive scavanger hunt was a success with more than 100 people attending. Teams of participants were provided with a list of clues to help them navigate a walking tour of RVC local landmarks, and merchants answered questions along the way. The team that completed the course with the most correct answers in the least amount of time was declared the winner of the event, and that was the Manteria family, which only had one incorrect answer and took home first prize.

The event began behind Sportset Health and Fitness and teams visited many places, including the RVC Library, and bowled at Maple Lanes before reaching the final destination, Monaghan’s Irish Restaurant, where a reception was held and featured raffle prizes donated from local businesses.

The sold out event was chaired by Michelle Sewell and supported the foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research.

“As we all start coming back to a more normal lifestyle, this rally was a great way to get outdoors and see people again while also supporting our local merchants who give so generously to our community,” Sewell said. “In addition, we were able to support the Mary Ruchalski Foundation who has the same goal as the Lions — making people aware of pediatric cancer”
