Rockville Centre ragamuffins march on Halloween Sunday

Posted

The annual Rockville Centre Ragamuffin parade took place Halloween Sunday, and the turnout this year was tremendous.

“It was wonderful,” said Recreation Specialist Pat Southard. “Parental support in particular this year was high and the parade worked out quite well.”

The 2 p.m. parade began at the Village Green, where costumed revers made their way down Maple Avenue toward the Rec Center on Oceanside Road. Prizes for the best costume were awarded to each of six age categories.

Starting at 3 p.m., the Rec Center also hosted a Halloween party in conjunction with the parade. Games of chance were offered to all children, and small giveaway prizes were handed out during the festivities as well.
