Kristina Katsos, 24, of Rockville Centre, officially became a U.S. citizen when she took the Oath of Allegiance before a spirited crowd at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services of New York’s first Naturalization Ceremony at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Cove Neck, home of 26th president Theodore Roosevelt. The event was held as part of National Park Week on April 18.

Katsos came from Cyprus to the United States for her college education at Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania. She recently completed a Master’s Degree in International Affairs at Georgetown University. She is currently looking for a job while her husband John finishes law school at George Washington University.

“I love this country and I wanted to become a citizen as soon as possible,” said Katsos, who is following in the footsteps of her father-in-law, Louis Katsos of Rockville Centre, who came to America from Greece at the age of four and became a U.S. citizen as well. Mr. Katsos fulfilled his American Dream by founding and running his own construction management company.
