Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has appointed John Cameron Jr. to serve as a Senate representative on the “New York Works” Task Force that will coordinate billions of dollars in capital plans across 45 state agencies and authorities and oversee investment in projects and access to funding, resulting in the creation of tens of thousands of jobs.

“John has built a stellar reputation of understanding public and private sector development needs and getting the job done,” Skelos said in a statement. “It is my privilege to appoint him to this task force so that his extensive experience will help identify and accelerate major infrastructure projects that will create jobs and stimulate economic growth across the state.”

“It is a distinct honor to be selected by Senator Skelos to work on such an important initiative as the direction of major infrastructure funding in New York state as well as serving as a potential catalyst for major economic development and job creating projects so vitally needed in these challenging economic times,” Cameron said.

The New York Works Task Force consists of 15 members from the finance, labor, planning and transportation sectors who are charged with developing a coordinated state infrastructure investment plan. The task force will also recommend financing options for projects and methods to accelerate construction of critical infrastructure.

Cameron, of Rockville Centre, was chosen for the task force because of his technical and managerial experience as chairman of the Long Island Regional Planning Council and as the founder and managing partner of Cameron Engineering and Associates LLP, headquartered in Woodbury. The award-winning firm’s projects cover various facets of municipal, institutional, commercial, residential, industrial and environmental engineering.
