Sam Resnick, a ninth grade student at the Waldorf School from Rockville Centre joined more than 150 students from Long Island at Adelphi University’s annual Poetry Festival last month where he received an Excellence in Poetry award for his poem, “Snowfall.” The festival included workshops, a student poetry reading, and a keynote address by the award-winning poet Terrance Hayes, a professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University.
On May 4h at the French Poetry Contest at John F. Kennedy High School in Plainview, Sam also a received an award — 2nd Honorable Mention — for his recitation of “Bonne Justice” by Paul Eluard.
