Rockville Centre students taking steps for Uganda

Wilson Elementary School first graders participated in their very first Walkathon this June. “Taking Steps for Uganda” helped to raise money for HELP International/HELP Uganda, an organization that has begun to transform the impoverished village of Masese.  

Village residents active with the project, Delia Garrity and Diana Silon, visited the first grade classrooms to raise awareness and teach the children about giving to others in need.  The Walkathon was a huge success, raising more than $1,400. More information about the Masese project can be found at www.help-uganda.com.
