This Sunday, Oct. 2, the RVC Drug and Alcohol Task Force, in conjunction with the RVC Youth Council and other local organizations, will hold its annual Substance Use Awareness Walk at Skelos Sports Complex on Peninsula Boulevard.
During this event village residents come together and walk to create awareness of drug and alcohol use and abuse in our community. Registration, at 9:30 a.m., is followed by ceremonial remarks at 10 a.m. and then the walk.
When asked about why she thinks it’s important for community members to get involved, South Side High School social worker Naomi Bisk said, “’We Are All Responsible’ is the slogan for this year’s RVC Drug and Alcohol Task Force. It’s up to us as adults in this community to set the example and role model appropriate behavior and provide appropriate boundaries to our young people. Together, we can prevent the many dangers associated with drug and alcohol use.”
