Officials say village water is regularly tested

According to Rockville Centre spokesman Jeff Kluewer, there is no E. coli bacteria in the village's water supply.

Kluewer said that, due to a number of inquiries from residents concerned about the news in neighboring communities, the village has placed an announcement about the water on its website and cable channel.

He added that Rockville Centre water is regularly tested for a variety of possible contaminants and that all tests are currently negative.

"Rockville Centre water is safe to use for all purposes," Kluewer said.

This announcement comes after E. coli bacteria was discovered in the water supplies of North Valley Stream, Elmont, Franklin Square, Garden City, Stewart Manor, Floral Park and New Hyde Park on Thursday.
