Living in a world that now takes computers, cell phones and the wireless Internet for granted, Lillian Bernstone was born during an era before commercial airplane travel, the electric refrigerator, television, or even crayons.
A resident of the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, in New Hyde Park, Lillian celebrated her 108th birthday on Nov. 3, maintaining her longstanding reputation as a “real fashion plate,” and sharing birthday cake amid decorations and live entertainment at a fun-filled party enjoyed by family, friends and other residents. Some things never change.
Before becoming a resident at Parker, Mrs. Bernstone lived in Rockville Centre, and was a popular and important part of her daughter’s business, Joan Stadt Interiors, Ltd. Mrs. Bernstone’s family now resides in Garden City.
