Village teens gathered to sing and socialize at the Rockville Centre Youth Council’s Open Mic Coffee House , Jam Night at Revolution Yoga on Feb. 10.

Formed in 2009, the council is a grass roots effort to provide the youth of Rockville Centre with a great place for them to live and grow up. The council seeks to accomplish this goal by planning teen events, sponsoring anti-drug and alcohol awareness programs, providing opportunities for village youth to become socially involved and helping them to prepare for the future. Its long-term goal is to provide a teen center, a place where they can socialize safely in a substance-free environment.

All are welcome to attend the council’s next meeting, which is set for March 13 at the Recreation Center at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.rvcyouthcouncil.org

The next event for teens (high school age living in the Rockville Centre school district) is scheduled for March 23 from 10 p.m. – midnight at Nick’s Pizza, 272 Sunrise Highway. The cost is $5 per student, payable at the door. The evening includes pizza, salad and soda. Contact nick.suss@gmail.com with any questions.
