MayerMeinberg LLP, formed in September 2011 by the merger of two local accounting firms, Mayer & Company LLP and Feldman, Meinberg & Co. LLP, has merged another Long Island accounting firm, Ackerman & Associates LLC, into the practice. CPA Mark Ackerman, a Rockville Centre resident, will be a partner. Co-managing CPA partners Robert O. Mayer and Mark L. Meinberg, jointly made the announcement.

“When looking for potential merger candidates,” said Meinberg, “chief among our requirements is a shared vision of professionalism, integrity and client service. Over the course of 30 years in the profession, Mark Ackerman has earned a loyal clientele and the respect of his peers.” Bob Mayer noted that, “Mark Ackerman is a great people person, and that is how we have built our practice, around the people we work with.”

For Ackerman, merging his Rockville Centre accounting practice is representative of his commitment to providing his clients with the best possible service and personal attention, as well as the myriad resources of a larger firm.

Ackerman has built a solid practice serving a diverse client base that includes real estate, with a significant expertise in HUD and Section 8 housing; as well as medical and other professional services providers, insurance brokers and underwriters, and staffing and court reporting agencies.

He launched his career in a small practice that gave him the practical hands on experience that led to his recruitment by Hurdman & Cranston, which merged into Big Four firm KPMG. After four years as a manager at Hurdman & Cranston, Ackerman left to launch his own firm.

A graduate of St. John’s University, Ackerman is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the New York State Society of CPAs and the Affordable Housing Association of CPAs. As an adjunct professor at C.W. Post, he taught courses in accounting for more than five years.

MayerMeinberg, with offices in Syosset and at 14 Penn Plaza, works through the start-up, growth and transition phases of real estate, professional services, digital media, e-commerce, staffing, bankruptcy, forensics, litigation support, construction, entertainment, leisure and fashion businesses.

Other services include lifestyle, cash and turnaround management, family business and estate and retirement planning and CFO services. The firm also has a tax partner and a tax attorney.
