Rockville Centre's B’nai Sholom-Beth David to host renowned cantor

Rockville Centre’s Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David announced that it has retained renowned Cantor Daniel Mendelson who will perform this year’s High Holiday services.

Mendelson, a tenor, is the son of cantors Jack and Fredda Mendelson and grew up around cantorial music (hazzanut) and opera. Mendelson has sung in Jewish concerts all over the United States and Europe. He was featured in the movie “A Cantor’s Tale” and the “CD’s Birthday of the World Part I” narrated by Leonard Nimoy, “Hazzonos” with Frank London, as well as the recent “Further Definitions of the Days of Awe” with The Afro-Semitic Experience.  Mendelson is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, where he earned a BFA in Film/Video Directing. His short film, “Rehearsing” was nominated for Best Film and Best Director at the 2006 Dusty Awards.  And his documentary, “Voice Teacher” was featured in the Syracuse International Film Festival, the Louisville Film Festival and most recently, in the “World Eye” Jewish Film Festival in Ashkelon, Israel.
