Rockville Centre's diocese champs

After a very successful 11-1 regular season, the St. Agnes 6th Grade Girls B team swept through the Nassau/Suffolk Playoffs to win the Diocese Championship. In the finals, the team played flawlessly in defeating St. Mary’s of Manhasset 29 - 14 in a game played at Holy Trinity High School.

On March 3 the team proudly participated in the first annual CYO  Classic which matched the winner of the Nassau/Suffolk championship against the winner of the Brooklyn/Queens championship. Continuing with the fine play and suffocating defense that exemplified the season, the St. Agnes team defeated Our Lady of Hope from Middle Village, Queens, 32-12, thus becoming the first St. Agnes CYO basketball team to ever have the privilege of being a winner of the CYO Classic tournament.

In building their overall 15-1 record, the girls consistently demonstrated team work, sportsmanship, a commitment to defense and an eagerness to practice and improve each week.

Each of the 11 girls played a vital role in the success of the team, and the coaches and parents could not be more proud of their accomplishments and the manner in which they represented the parish.
