Rockville Centre's Enchanted Winterland set for Jan. 29

Posted

For the fourth year in a row, the Enchanted Winterland is lending a little warmth to the cold heart of winter. Positioned directly between the holidays and the President’s Week vacation, the Winterland provides a lovely afternoon of affordable family fun just when it’s needed the most. This fundraiser for the Rockville Centre Community Fund has brought in more than $30,000 to help neighbors in need.

Mayor Francis Murray, in his capacity as president of the fund, has invited Cerina and Richard McQuillan to be the first Enchanted Winterland honorees. The McQuillans, owners of Links Real Estate Group and active community benefactors, have been devoted supporters of this event.

This year the Enchanted Winterland has an Americana theme, with music and dance provided by the South Shore Symphony Orchestra and Leggz Ltd. Dance. The performance will be interactive, encouraging audience participation. A country Sunday supper by Zorn’s will follow. It will be held at the new Madison Theatre at Molloy College at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29.

In addition to a variety of great raffle prizes, there will be a special raffle for a week in a two-bedroom, two-bath suite at Marriott’s Manor Club at Ford’s Colony, Colonial Williamsburg, donated by former Mayor Mary Bossart and her husband, Rob Bossart. This event will also initiate a new commemorative brick campaign called “Paving the Way for Our Neighbors in Need.”

Come in from the cold and while you’re enjoying an afternoon of good old American music and comfort food, know that your admission is going to lend a hand to community members who are facing financial need. Tickets are $40 per adult, $30 for seniors and $20 for children 12 and under. Visit RVC-Enchanted-Winterland on Facebook or call the Mayor’s Office at (516) 678-9260, for more information on the event, raffles and the brick campaign.
