Rockville Centre Police Lt. Christopher Romance graduated from the FBI’s National Academy at Quantico, Va. on Dec. 16. He is the third executive staff officer in the department to complete the program this year — Inspector Glenn Quinn graduated in June and Lt. James Vafeades graduated in September.
Romance was among 266 law enforcement officers from 25 countries, 49 states, three military and six federal organizations to successfully complete the academy’s 247th session in December.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the program offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative and management training for selected officers having proven records of accomplishment within their agencies.
“Lieutenant Romance has joined an exclusive club; it is an honor to be selected to attend this course and an achievement to complete it,” said Police Commissioner Charles Gennario.
“The department will greatly benefit from his executive development,” Commissioner Gennario said. “We take great pride in congratulating him.”
Romance joined the Rockville Centre Police Department in 1997. He was promoted to sergeant in 2005 and to lieutenant in 2010. He earned a B.S. in computer science from New York Institute of Technology in 1994.
Romance has earned several professional awards, including the Town of Hempstead’s Police Service Award and the Nassau County Municipal Police Chiefs Association Distinguished Service Award.
A total of 45,297 have graduated from the FBI National Academy since it opened in July 1935.
