Skies were threatening early on, but the weather cooperated and the spirit of generosity of sponsors and players enabled The Friends of Mercy Medical Center to raise approximately $30,000 at their 31st annual Golf Classic.

A field of nearly 90 golfers enjoyed play on July 23 at the Hempstead Golf & Country Club, followed by a post-outing dinner honoring Dr. Michael H. Brisman of Neurological Surgery, P.C., the largest private neurosurgery practice on Long Island and in the New York tri-state area, which has been a sustaining sponsor of the Golf Classic, and has provided generous ongoing support for all of The Friends’ major fundraising events for many years.

The Golf Classic was co-chaired for a third consecutive year by Joseph and Thomas Graham of Rockville Centre, co-founders of JJT Energy, a firm supplying natural gas to the commercial and residential markets.

Over the past five years, The Friends have raised some $1.5 million to support hospital facilities including Mercy’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
