Honors for Long Island Gaels
Rockville Centre’s Dave Baker, second from left, received an official Town of Hempstead Certificate of Recognition on the occasion of the annual Long Island Gaelic Football Club dinner dance that was held at the Irish American Center in Mineola. Also pictured are Councilman Anthony Santino, Mary Baker, Long Island Gaels Chairman Mike Bryne and Long Island Gaels Chairman Seamus Kerr.
A lesson in marketing
Mariel and Sofia Mizrahi, owners of Picks For Peace, a charity accessories company, met with Brownie Troop 821 of Rockville Centre to make guitar pick bracelets and speak with them about their company. Eighteen second grade girls listened intently as the Mizrahi sisters spoke to them about customers and how important they are (since the young scouts sold cookies earlier this year). The girls also learned how to strum a guitar using a pick, and colored pictures of a guitar.
