Christine Cameron and John Koehler were married on Feb. 25 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Manhattan at a Nuptial Mass celebrated by Msgr. Frank Caldwell and concelebrated by Msgr. James Kelly. The wedding reception was held at the Plaza Hotel. Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Thailand.

John, the son of Wendy and John Koehler of Oceanside, is a vice president with Jefferies & Company, Inc., the financial services company. John is a graduate of Chaminade High School and Boston College. The newlyweds have settled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as their first home together.

A spotlight on special talents

In late March, Lincoln Center opened its doors to a group of talented, young adult dancers representing the Association for Children with Down Syndrome (ACDS). The 12 handpicked “elite” dancers performed two routines that evening between performances from two of Tokyo’s leading ballet schools, as well as by students from the Harlem School of the Arts.

It was a special evening in which parents, teachers, friends and family could witness some of the amazing abilities of individuals with developmental disabilities.

One of these dancers included Rockville Centre resident and South Side High School alumna Christine Kurz, at right. Chrissy has been dancing with the ACDS program since the age of 5 and also enjoys participating in both winter and summer Camp ANCHOR programs in and around Rockville Centre. She was very excited to perform in front of all of her friends and family, and share a special evening with her dance group. The high quality of the performance that evening did not reflect the short amount of time the 12 dancers had to practice together.
