Facetime with Zuckerberg

A team from 21st Century Security, located in Baldwin, provided the 25-person executive protection/security detail for the Facebook I. P. Lunching with Gambling

Rockville Centre’s Catherine White, second from right, enjoyed lunch at Ben Benson’s last month with longtime WOR radio host John Gambling. It was a gift from her eight children, who bid on it at an auction to benefit the Salvation Army. Joining her were daughters Catherine Byrne, left, Eileen Jahn both Rockville Centre residents, and Jean Mackey, who recently moved from the village to Connecticut.

Writing about the experience, Eileen Jahn said they had a great time with Gambling and he mentioned them on his show the next day. He said with these lunches, you never know if you are going to have to eat with Snooki, but Catherine White and her three daughters were the most “Un-Snooki” people you could ever meet.

Teens helping teens

From March 30-April 20, 2012, Peri Bernstein (a sophomore at South Side High School), left, and Laura Stern (a junior at the school) could be seen on any given day collecting prom dresses, shoes and handbags, from the bins they set up at the Rockville Centre Public Library and the Recreation Center for the Prom Boutique.

The Prom Boutique was hosted at Nassau Community College and sponsored by the Long Island Volunteer Center. Laura and Peri collected nearly 200 dresses. Fifty six were a very special donation as they were dry-cleaned free of charge by Star Cleaners on Merrick Road — something Laura and Peri very much appreciated. The dresses were delivered to NCC for distribution to young ladies who are looking forward to their proms.

Laura and Peri said they were quite proud of the number of dresses that they collected and both were excited to be of help to other high school girls that they did not know. Both girls said they plan to participate in this event next year and, with the community’s assistance, surpass the number of dresses they collected this year.
