Overcast and Breezy RVC-based cancer foundation donates $85k

The Mary Ruchalski Foundation presented Dr. Chris Vakoc of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory with an $85,000 research grant for pediatric cancer in November. Dr. Vakoc is continuing to do important research on rhabdomyosarcoma and it is the foundations hope, he said, that he will find a better way to treat the cancer that claimed his daughter’s life.
The foundations “Light the way 4 Pediatric Cancer “ campaign and their “September Goes Gold” bow campaign were very successful, along with local merchants special shopping days, foundation ornament sales and an art auction, all continuing to raise much needed funds.
“We are so grateful for the continued support of our community and for their love of Mary and our foundation.” Vakoc said.
