This marks Rachel?s second year as a member of the team. In March of 2008, Rachel faced her first competition in Lake Placid, N.Y., winning a gold medal and the title of 2008 Youth B Women?s National Champion. Rachel got her start in the sport of luge by attending a Verizon Slider Search. From hundreds of youths seen by the Luge Association at various stops across the country, Rachel was selected to attend screening camps in Lake Placid. She made it through a number of cuts and was thrilled to make the Development Team last year. Rachel expects to attend numerous training sessions in Lake Placid this fall and winter and hopes to compete again next year at the Nationals that are slated for Park City, Utah.
