The Rockville Centre Fire Department invited the community to join the officers and members of the Live Oak Engine Company at 103 Maple Ave. last Sunday morning as they celebrated their 75th anniversary.
The company also rededicated its Ahrens-Fox antique fire apparatus that used to carry the designation of Unit 21, which was delivered on Sept. 6,1937. The Fox is no longer a frontline pumper but it still runs and is able to pump water. Other fire departments were on hand to display their antique trucks as well. At the ceremony, the Baldwin Fire Department brought its 1951 Aherns Fox, which is still in working condition, and Lynbrook brought its 1927 unit that is still drivable, but can no longer pump water.
