RVC's comeback kids

In the first game, against Oceanside National, Oceanside had control of the game, leading 4-0 after the fourth inning. Mark Romanowski, RVC's starting pitcher, had five strikeouts. Ed Tammaro came in with bases loaded and only two outs in the fourth and struck out Oceanside's clean-up hitter.
A rally started in the top of the fifth inning with a lead-off single to center by Christopher Agresti. With three walks and bases loaded, Andrew Falchiere hit a single, scoring two runs. Michael Klaum followed with a double to left field, tying the score at 4-4. Next, Alex Matos singled in the "go ahead run." Rockville Centre won 5-4.
In game two, against Oceanside American, RVC came out swinging, scoring a run in every inning and scoring seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to win the game 12-2. Klaum led in RVC's hitting, going 3 for 5 with three runs scored. Dan Chelius hit 2 for 2, with two runs scored and John Angelis laid down a perfect bunt for a single. Nate Cabrera pitched a terrific complete game, striking out seven and not allowing a walk.
Game three was against Baldwin. RVC took an early lead with a home run by Erik Albertson. Baldwin answered back by scoring six runs. In the bottom of the fourth, Brendan Doyle led off with a single to right. Trailing by four runs going into the sixth inning, RVC tried to come back once again. Agresti led off with a single, Angelis walked and Tammaro singled up the middle to bring in a run. Casey Cameron walked and Nick Bruno knocked in two runs, making the final score 6-5, Baldwin.
RVC played an exciting game four against Freeport at Greis Park. Going into the third, Freeport had the lead by 5-. In the bottom of the third inning, Falchiere led off with a double, followed by Bruno with a double and Klaum with a single, to bring the score to 5-2. RVC picked up two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
At the top of the sixth inning, Freeport had a 7-4 lead. Tammaro led off with a double, then, with two outs, Bruno hit a double, followed by a walk by Albertson. In an amazing baseball feat, Klaum hit an inside-the-park home run and RVC won the game 8-7.
RVC faced Baldwin for a second time in game five. Matos was on the mound and pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and only one walk. RVC won 6-0.
In their final game, RVC again faced Baldwin. In the bottom of the fifth inning, RVC was trailing 3-2. Falchiere led off in the bottom of the sixth with a single, followed by a beautiful hit to right field by Cameron, with two outs and a 3-2 count, to tie up the game and go to extra innings.
Baldwin scored one run in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, Cole Considine walked to lead off the inning. Klaum walked and, with one out, Agresti bunted to load the bases. Falchiere hit a line drive single to right field, driving in two runs. RVC beat Baldwin 5-4.
Manager Pat Agresti would like to thank the dedicated coaches and the unique group of supportive parents, but most of all, this great team who exhibited sportsmanship, was always willing to listen and learn and never gave up.
