Safety on wheels in Rockville Centre

Posted

Bicycle Safety Week, an annual program sponsored by the Rockville Centre Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Rockville Centre Police Department and the PTA, came to Wilson Elementary School on Sept. 11.

Rec Center staff provided safety instruction, a bicycle safety course, a presentation by a police officer, as well as serial number engraving on bicycles for anti-theft protection. They offered registration for bicycles with strong brakes, a warning device (bell, horn or whistle), front and rear reflectors at least 3-inches square, reflectors on pedals and reflective tires of wheels with reflectors on the spokes.

Bicycle Safety events also took place at Riverside Elementary School on Sept. 11; at Covert and Watson on Sept. 12 and at Hewitt on Sept. 13.
