With a Westbury mailing address and belonging to the East Meadow School District, it's no wonder some Salisbury residents have an identity crisis.
But this small community of about 5,000 homes has worked hard over the years to give Salisbury its own character.
The borders of Salisbury are Old County Road on the north, Wantagh State Parkway on the East and Salisbury Park Drive on the south and west. Within those borders, families live, businesses thrive, and together they try to build a strong community.
In recent years, Salisbury residents have fought to decrease traffic problems along one of its main roadways, Salisbury Park Drive. Just recently, Nassau County has worked on a road analysis to improve roadway conditions and decrease the rate of accidents occurring there.
Also, residents banned together to fight the development of roughly 20 acres of a 30 acre site along Carman Avenue known as the Salisbury Sump. The county voted recently to preserve the property perpetually as natural space.
But it's not just these things that make Salisbury. Shown in the pictures are just some aspects that make Salisbury what it is.
