More than 500 children and their parents turned out for the annual event. The Merrick Fire Department delivered Old Saint Nick by fire engine. The Calhoun High School choir sang. And The Stage Theater provided actresses and actors to serve as Santa's elves.
Cathy Montero, of Advance Irrigation, and Ilene Dixel, the Merrick Herald's advertising account executive, served as co-chairwomen of the event.
