Due to icy conditions on the Boardwalk, the city's annual Snowflake 4 Mile Run this Saturday at New York Avenue will instead take place on Broadway at 8:30 a.m., parallel to the boardwalk.
Registration, shirt and award pick up stays the same. $20.00 pre-registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 4, at 5:00 p.m. $25.00 Day of Race from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m.
Register online at www.active.comstart and finish New York Avenue and the Boardwalk. Race timed by Finish Line Road Race Technicians (www.flrrt.com). No strollers/baby joggers allowed on race course.
Entrants must pick up shirts at the Long Beach Catholic Regional School gym, Penn Street and New York Avenue before 8 a.m.

What: The 12th-annual Long Beach Polar Bear Swim
When: Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 6
Where: The beach at Riverside Boulevard
Time: Participants meet at 12:30 p.m., in the water at 1:30 p.m.
Long Beach City Manager Charles T. Theofan has announced that free Shuttle Bus service will be available to residents and visitors for the Polar Bear Swim this Sunday, February 6. There is no parking at Riverside.
"Due to the amount of snow still on the ground, parking will not be available on the superblock and foundation block between Long Beach Blvd. and Edwards Blvd. for this year's event," said Theofan. "We are urging everyone to take the free shuttle buses."
Buses will make round trips between 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from east and west ends as well as from the LIRR municipal parking lot to the beach at Riverside.
West End: Shuttle bus will leave LIRR down Park to Grand to Beech to Ohio - Then go east back to Grand to Broadway to Riverside and start again.
East End: Shuttle bus will leave LIRR to National to Broadway & drop at Riverside -then continue along Broadway to Maple to Park to LIRR and start again. From LIRR: If you park at LIRR, look for the shuttle bus that goes directly up Edwards Blvd. to the beach. continuously.
"Taking the bus will help to avoid congestion and delays at Riverside Boulevard," Theofan said.
