School district to hold Common Core meeting

The Rockville Centre School District will meet on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the South Side Middle School auditorium to discuss the current state of the Common Core Curriculum with residents.

The venue has yet to be determined, but will most likely either be at the high school or the middle school.

The forum will give residents a chance to hear the opinions of the Board of Education and district administrators on the Common Core, and to ask questions about their child’s education.

“What we want to do is let people know what’s happening in Rockville Centre with regard to the implementation of the Common Core, our position on the state testing, and our position on inBloom, which is the distribution of student data to that company,” said Superintendent Dr. William Johnson. “So we’re going to deal with all three of those.”
