Seaford church's annual bible camp

The Seaford United Methodist Church hosted its annual Vacation Bible School from Monday, Aug. 13 to Friday, Aug. 17. More than 75 children attended the camp from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. every day, according to Vanessa Hlinka, a volunteer with the church. Each day, the children would empty their pockets of loose change to put into a donation fund for the Feed The Children Foundation — an effort that Hlinka called “children feeding children.” Most of the volunteers and junior volunteers who helped out at the camp were from the Seaford community, Hlinka said. The Vacation Bible School program this year was called Rolling River Rampage. Each day the camp participants rotated between classrooms on a schedule for recreation, crafts, snacks, science, and bible stories. The day began in the church sanctuary at 9:00 a.m. with a prayer, music, and a puppet show. The day closed similarly around 11:45 or 12:00, Hlinka said. On the last day, the campers put on a performance for their parents. According to Hinka the children enjoyed everything and she hopes they left having learned something to take with them.
