One week after capturing its third Nassau Conference IV football championship in four years, Seaford was overpowered by Shoreham-Wading River.

The Wildcats capped a dominant postseason run by defeating the Vikings, 49-7, in the Long Island Class IV championship game last Saturday at Hofstra.

Senior standout quarterback Xavier Arline rushed for 252 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries and had a pair of passing scores to lead Shoreham (11-1), which won its fourth L.I. crown in six years.

The Wildcats averaged 44.5 points in four postseason games and outscored their opponents on the season by a whopping 533-118 margin. They avenged a regular-season defeat to Mount Sinai to win the Suffolk IV crown on Nov. 24.

Junior Craig Ackerman caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Logan Masters to avoid the shutout for Seaford, which finished 10-2. The Vikings also avenged a regular-season loss to Cold Spring Harbor to snag the county title.

“I’m so proud of my kids and coaches because they never quit,” Seaford head coach Rob Perpall said.

Arline’s two touchdown passes — 9 yards to Jake Wilson and 35 to Mike Casazza — staked the Wildcats to a 14-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game.

Ariline added touchdown runs of 6, 51 and 67 yards in the first half and a 54-yarder in the third quarter, when he also made an interception.
