Seawall for Pershing Place

Posted
Good news for residents of Pershing Place in Island Park. Village Mayor Michael McGinty said they sold the property located at 15 Pershing Place and will use that money to start construction of a new seawall. The existing seawall was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy, and that end of the street flooded due to the high autumnal tide and the action of the recent nor’easter storm. McGinty said they have notified the Army Corps of Engineers, and put the project out for bid. The Mayor also noted that he and the other village officials were in touch with National Grid and PSEG, the Fire Department and the Department of public works were all on alert. McGinty and the trustees were on site in the Village all night.
