Flea market fundraiser
The Valley Stream Lions Club is holding its 23rd annual outdoor flea market on Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arthur J. Hendrickson Pool parking lot. Antiques, toys, jewelry, household items, medical supplies and much more will be sold. All proceeds benefit the Valley Stream Lions. Challah bake with Chabad
Women and girls ages 12 and older can make their own challah on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Chabad of Valley Stream, located at 550 Rockaway Ave. in Valley Stream. The science of ‘Star Wars’ in Elmont

Art explorations at Hofstra University Museum
Set out with the kids on an “Artful Adventure,” on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11:30 a.m., at Hofstra’s museum. The program, which runs through December, begins with a session on printmaking, in conjunction with the museum’s new Andy Warhol exhibition. Museum educators will lead participants (ages 5-10) in a discussion about art and then guide visitors in a hands-on art project. Kids can enjoy their own 15 minutes of fame, inspired by Andy Warhol.
