Shalhevet High School to closeHAFTR trustees vote to discontinue funding of sister school after one year

“In these economic times, HAFTR could not absorb all of the losses and it was impossible for us to continue paying for Shalhevet,” said Reuben Maron, executive director of HAFTR.
Due to harsh economic times, it was difficult for HAFTR to fulfill its responsibility of funding Shalhevet's programs, Maron said. Administrators from HAFTR said they will assist in placing students in other all-girls yeshivot [schools] in the metropolitan area. “We are offering them a place at HAFTR, if they so wish, at the same financial arrangement that they had with Shalhevet,” said Michelle Segelnick, director of development at HAFTR.
Any advance payments of tuition to Shalhevet will be fully refunded, according to school officials.
There are also rumors that the three-year coalition between HAFTR and Rambam is coming to an end, which Maron dismissed. “The partnership is not over,” he said. “We did not dissolve the partnership,”
