Southside High School Juniors were chosen as the winners of the Homecoming parade with their Beauty and the Beast float, helping them secure a win for Spirit Week overall.

Each grade built a different float for the parade centered on a theme of musicals. The freshmen built their float based on Wicked, the sophomores used Mary Poppins, and the seniors used the Lion King.

SSHS built excitement for homecoming with Spirit Week, which began Oct. 9 with a variety of competitions, including lip-synching, a chocolate-pie-eating contest and a tug-of-war.

McKingsley Ryan Williams and Josephine ‘Josie’ DeMarco were voted homecoming king and queen.

The homecoming celebrations ended with a slight damper when SSHS blew a 21-point lead against North Shore High School.
