Citizens for Soldiers The East Rockaway Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring "American Citizens For Soldiers" in conjunction with Adelis International Security. This patriotic event was conceived in East Rockaway and is the only one that sends Christmas trees, lights, ornaments and Menorahs directly to our troops in a war zone. Jim Adelis not only wanted to do something special for his son, but for all of our soldiers who would not be home with their loved ones for the holidays. This year for the first time the procession will pass through the Village Of East Rockaway by Village Hall, where it will slow down briefly to honor our Village for all of its support on its way to Kennedy International Airport. It will start at Dee's Oceanside at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8, then proceed through East Rockaway past Village Hall on Atlantic Ave. at approximately 11:15 a.m. Residents ca meetn front of Village Hall for this great event.

Peak Performance helps Last year Peak Performance Physical Therapy & Fitness collected over 1000 lbs of food for LI Cares. This year, they will be collecting food to go toward the Our Lady of Peace Parish Social Ministry food bank in Lynbrook. There will a bin in each of Peak Performance's three facilities in Lynbrook, Island Park and New Hyde Park, for donations. Every little bit helps, non-perishables only. The Lynbrook location is 44 Broadway.
Give it a shot The Village of East Rockaway will be participating in the Annual Flu Immunization Program offered by Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs.Dec. 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Senior Citizen Center, 6 James St. (adjacent to Village Hall). The Pneumonia vaccine will be offered to those who wish to get this injection (this requires a doctor's note). Residents of East Rockaway, Angle Sea and Bay Park (senior citizens age 60 or older, a spouse of a senior age 60 or older and the disabled) are eligible to register for a free Flu Immunization. No out of pocket expense. Prior registration is required, and register early. We want your family secrets The Cultural Arts Committee of East Rockaway is in the process of compiling recipes from residents, and will publish the recipes in a book. Anyone from East Rockaway, or family member of ER, may submit up to two recipes per household. The CAC is looking for the following famous East Rockaway dishes such as appetizers, desserts, quick delicious recipes, main course (includes sauce and gravy with veggie side dishes if so desired, gourmet, or crock pot). It's a womanly art Women interested in breastfeeding their babies are welcomed to attend a series of meetings of the Lynbrook/East Rockaway
La Leche League on the first Thursday of each month, 8 p.m. 659 Scranton Ave., Lynbrook. Babies are welcomed. The League offers mother-to-mother help in a series of four monthly meetings based on "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding."
