Read and sing on the green The Oceanside Kiwanis Club, in support of the Oceanside Education Foundation, will hold their first annual Summer Gazebo Readings series. Starting at 7 p.m. on June 4 and on each Monday at that time until Aug. 27, four readers will be invited to share any material they or others have written, and can read, extemporize, sing or play any non-electric instrument of their choice at the gazebo on the Schoolhouse Green on Foxhurst Road (between Oceanside and Long Beach Roads). Driver education registration Driver Education courses will be given at Oceanside High School on Skillman Avenue starting on July 5 and ending on August 17. Classes will include lecture and driving experience. Space is limited and the oldest seniors will be given priority. Students must be 16 years old on or before July 1, 2007. Stop and smell the roses Photographer and Oceanside resident Dr. Jeffrey Herzlich debuts his colorful spring exhibit, "Flower Power-Stretching to the Sky" at the library through June 2007. In this series, Herzlich incorporates the vivid colors of nature by using an artistic technique that appears to combine painting with photography. By juxtaposing images in a controlled setting, the flowers have an enchanting three-dimensional quality that encourages the viewer to stop and "smell the roses."
