A Baby Laptime Program will be offered at the library every Monday in June. The program will last from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., and is for kids ages17 months to 7 years without an adult. Activities include music, fingerpainting and nursery rhymes. Registration is open, and is limited to 10 spots.

"The Pirate Lady" will be at the library at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 26. She will regale young lads and lasses with a lesson in pirate jargon, sea chanties, and pirate stories in keeping with this year's Summer Reading Program theme: Books: a Treasure. The talk will be followed by cotton candy and spin art while supplies last. Registration began on June 5.

Beginner Mah Jonng Juliet Feeley will teach the game of Mah Jonng using the National Maj Jonng League, Inc. rules. A check for $20, (no exceptions) which includes the card is payable to the West Hempstead Public Library at our ongoing registration. The classes will be held in the community room with a maximum of 12 students on Mondays June 5, 12, 19, 26, and July 10 and 17.

A trip through lighthouses and history on Tuesday, June 27. The Peconic Star 11 will leave Greenpoint at 3 p.m. for a guided tour of six lighthouses.The ship will approach each lighthouse, however, passengers will not disembark at any time. An onboard buffet will be served, and the Peconic Star 11 will return to Greenpoint at approximately 9 p.m.

Homework Help The autumn semester has begun and so has Homework Help at the Lakeview Library. Every Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., children in grades K-12 are invited to attend instructional sessions with certified New York State teachers. Classes in math, science, social studies and English/Language Arts will be provided. Registration is required and ongoing.

"Creating and Maintaining Personal Credit" will be discussed at the library on Thursday, June 29 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A representative from American Debt will explain debt management, understanding debt, understanding credit, and how to maintain and repair credit. Eating Disorders Program is forming new groups for bulimia and compulsive over-eating. Project Cares is a social day program for men and women 60 and over who are considered frail due to physical or mental difficulties. Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program to help individuals and families recover from the ravages of substance abuse is available at the Chemical Dependence Treatment Services of Peninsula Counseling Center.
