A Master Gardener from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County will help you solve other planting problems in an informative discussion on Thursday, March 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. Learn the basic concepts needed to select plants and containers, plant your plants and then maintain them. Malverne Kids! Nominate your favorite book for the 3 Apple Book Award. Let everyone in New York State know, what book is your favorite. If you are in 3rd through 6th grades or are 8012 years-old, pick up a nomination form from the library. Nominate a specific book title, not a whole series and return the form to your librarian. Compost Gardening is a valuable addition to the soil. Its presence improves the soil by binding particles together, increasing its water-holding capacity and releasing nitrogen and other nutrients for plant use. Dramatic reading and performanc as David Houston will perform an adaptation "in the style of radio drama" of the Spring 2006Long Island Reads selection for Nassau and Suffolk County library's, "Amagansett." Mr. Houston will do a dramatized reading followed by featured pop tunes and suspense movie music of he 1940's period. For the entire month of March we will be collecting all kinds of kosher Passover food (no matzo, please). There will again be bins in the JCC lobby where you may drop off food. Members of the JCC will collect the food from these bins and drop off the food at the Alex Rubinger Food Pantry. The Pantry will distribute the Pesach food to needy people in Nassau County.
The Sisterhood of the Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead invites you to join us as we present not one, but THREE uproariously funny stand-up comedians - for one night only!
