Spirits were bright last Saturday night as the Christmas tree was lit and community members enjoyed other fun-filled activities. Some toured the community by taking old fashioned horse-and-buggy or trolley rides. Others joined Girl Scout Troop 927 in singing Christmas carols. Many enjoyed roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate and cookies.
Participants were also invited to vote for the local store whose holiday decorations they thought were most festive; winners will be announced on Dec. 15. And, of course, Santa Claus stopped by for one last quick visit before he made his way back to the North Pole to check on his elves' progress.
As the holidays burn bright in Bellmore, the Herald looks forward to stopping by the annual menorah lighting next week.
