"It's about raising money for leukemia, finding a cure and having fun while you're doing it," said Matthew.
This was the third year in a row that Matthew has collected money for the fundraiser, and this time he went all out to reach his lofty goal. He walked up and down the street at the Thursday night Lynbrook Classic Car Show and sent donation letters to the parents of all the students at the three Lynbrook elementary schools.
"We have so much inside to share," said Matthew's mother Diane. "This offers hope."
That sunny afternoon some 300 donators slid into the jello pool in memory of lost loved ones and in honor of those fighting their battles and waiting for a cure. Matthew took the plunge for himself.
With the brightest of smiles he explained: "It feels good to make a difference and I just passed my one year mark. I'm in remission! "
