It's the first time the lighting has taken place inside the new East Meadow town square at Veterans Memorial Park, on the corner of East Meadow and Prospect avenues.
Last year, a horrible snow storm forced the holiday lighting ceremony's cancellation. And although it was a little nippy this year, foul weather would not stop the tree and menorah from lighting.
Making the long trip from the North Pole, Santa Claus was on hand for the event and put a smile on kids' faces. The Herald stopped by to catch some of the holiday cheer. Here's a look at what we saw.
